If you spend any time checking out self-help books, clicking through television channels or perusing the magazine aisle at the grocery store, you know our world is overrun with advice on how to catch a mate and keep the relationship going strong. We are all desperately searching for a love that will last.
And truthfully, experiencing a lasting love is how God intends it to be. He designed us for connection – physically, emotionally, and spiritually. How do we find that kind of love and then keep it for a lifetime?
The media and our culture tell us if we dress a certain way, drive a certain car, and act a certain way, we will get the perfect mate, fall madly in love, and live happily ever after. Or if not, we break up, or get a divorce, and we start all over again. This is the world’s formula, over and over again. And our lives are inundated with it.
But is there a better way? Does the God of the universe, the grand designer, have a plan that will work, that will keep love alive for a lifetime?

Free MP3Listen NowIn my series, Love, Sex & Lasting Relationships, I give deep, meaningful insights into God’s prescription for a lasting relationship. I begin by reminding us how deeply loved we are by our Heavenly Father. God loves us just the way we are, and we can find our security in His unconditional love.
Next, I encourage us to mimic God and to love our mate the way He loves us. Walk in His love by actively choosing to love. This kind of love means choosing to give another person what they need the most when they deserve it the least at great personal cost. True Biblical love has little to do with feelings and everything to do with choosing to love.
Lastly, fix our hopes and dreams on God and seek to please Him through our relationship. Then when difficult times come, our relationship with God is deep and it can carry us through obstacles and struggles.
The rewards from following God’s prescription for a lasting relationship are beyond comprehension. Become the right person, walk in love, and fix our eyes on God and seek to please Him. There is no better way!
